Quick recap of what you've learned
You've reached the end of this handbook! 🎉 You started with zero code. Now you know how to take an idea all the way to a live app. Let's look back at what you learned.
From idea to live app
Understand AI
how it works
Prompt and plan
say what you want
Build
with AI tools
Save versions
Git and GitHub
Ship
debug and deploy
AI foundations
- What AI, generative AI, and large language models (LLMs) are.
- Prompts, tokens, context, and why AI sometimes makes things up (hallucinations).
- How to choose the right model for a job.
AI chat tools
- The basics of ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
- Building small apps inside the chat with Canvas and Artifacts.
- Comparing models to pick the best one for a task.
Prompting and planning
- Clear prompts with Role, Context, Task, Constraints, and Output.
- Iterating, giving examples, adding guardrails, and writing debug prompts.
- Markdown, README and PRD files, and notes that help your AI understand your app.
Builder foundations
- How web apps work: frontend, backend, databases, APIs, and hosting.
- Keeping API keys safe in
.envfiles. - Saving versions with Git and storing them on GitHub.
- Building and publishing apps with an AI app builder.
Vibe coding
- Working with Claude Code, including plan mode and
CLAUDE.md. - Building full-stack apps with pages, a database, login, and payments.
- Adding admin tools and AI features to an app.
- Debugging calmly, deploying, and launching.
The skills you now have
| Feature | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Plan | Decide what to build before you start | Writing a short PRD |
| Instruct | Write clear prompts the AI can follow | Role, Context, Task, Constraints, Output |
| Build | Guide AI tools to create working apps | Canvas, Artifacts, app builders, Claude Code |
| Debug | Describe problems and get them fixed | A clear debug prompt with the error |
| Version | Save and undo work with Git and GitHub | Committing after each working change |
| Deploy | Put an app live on the internet | Publishing to Vercel or Netlify |
Most importantly, you understand the key ideas behind your apps. That means you can make safe and reliable decisions, not just copy what the AI says.
Add your app links to your notes file, your GitHub profile, or your CV. You built real things, so show them.
The habits to keep
- Plan first, then prompt.
- Ask the AI what it changed and why.
- Test every change yourself.
- Commit often with clear messages.
- Keep secrets out of prompts, code, and GitHub.
Tools and models will keep changing. These habits won't. They work with any AI tool you use next.
Common mistakes
- Thinking you've "finished learning". This is the start, not the end.
- Forgetting the safety rules once you stop reading.
- Keeping your apps private. Sharing them opens doors.
